John Mellencamp leaves the stage after being booed at the concert, reports say. “The show is over”

As a video shows, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member John Mellencamp abruptly left the stage at a concert in Ohio when he was booed.

It reportedly happened on Sunday, March 17, when Mellencamp was performing at the Stranahan Theater in Toledo.

The Toledo Blade reported that Mellencamp was booed as he told stories between songs, telling one heckler to “go back to kindergarten” while shouting profanities at another.

“Play music!” a concertgoer was heard shouting to Mellencamp in a TikTok video of the concert.

Mellencamp threatened to cut “ten songs” from his set because the audience continued to interrupt him.

“You know what? The show is over,” Mellencamp finally told the audience as he stormed off the stage after starting to play his iconic song “Jack & Diane,” as the TikTok video shows.

According to the blog Out of the Blue, which reviewed Mellencamp’s show, many concertgoers began to leave the concert.

But after the heckler was removed from the audience, Mellencamp returned to the stage, according to Out of the Blue.

David Yonke, a freelance writer who attended the show, said Mellencamp did not mention the incident at the end of his appearance.

“I have never seen a seasoned entertainer throw such a tantrum over a heckler,” Yonke said in a Facebook post. “And it wasn’t even a heckler, just a rude fan. But there were 2,400 other Mellencamp fans who deserved better.”

Mellencamp, also known for his songs “Hurts So Good” and “ROCK in the USA,” was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2008.
