A Florida politician’s request to users of X (formerly Twitter) to wish his friend a happy birthday failed miserably on Tuesday – because the friend was none other than Roger Stone.
The longtime GOP official and adviser to former President Donald Trump celebrated his 72nd birthday on Tuesday, and Florida Republican Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis wanted to make the day special for him.
So he turned to X (formerly Twitter) with a simple request: “Can you help me wish @RogerJStoneJr a happy birthday?!”
It was clear from the reactions that many people on social media are not very happy with Stone. He was sentenced to 40 months in prison after being found guilty of several serious crimes, including witness tampering and lying to Congress.
Trump pardoned Stone in December 2020.
The birthday greetings Stone received on Tuesday included, among other things, that he was “everything that is repulsive in politics” and a “moral degenerate and a scumbag.”
One X user said he would rather “rip out all my body hair” than wish him a happy birthday.
