PHOTOS! Neighbors celebrate National Night Out in West Hollywood

The City of West Hollywood will celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 with a series of street parties and gatherings throughout WeHo in support of unity against crime. From the Gateway on the east side to the WeHo West neighborhood and high above the Sunset Strip, this year’s NNO had something for everyone.

The Eastside featured free giveaways, roller skating, freshly grilled burgers, music, live performances, a movie and more. It all started at the West Hollywood Gateway and moved to nearby neighborhoods as well as two events in Plummer Park.

On the west side, there were also plenty of raffles from local businesses and food trucks, meetings with city officials and emergency responders, and everyone ended up at Horn Plaza for tacos and frozen margaritas.

The full list of neighborhood parties, including:

  • West Hollywood West Residents Association — from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the cul-de-sac at the corner of Sherbourne Drive and Ashcroft Avenue
  • West Hollywood Heights Neighborhood Association — from 7 to 9 p.m. at Horn Plaza, 1230 Horn Avenue
  • Cynthia-Sunset Neighborhood Watch — from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Hammond Street between Vista Grande Street and Cynthia Street
  • Neighborhood Watch WeHo East — from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Gardner Street between Lexington Avenue and Fountain Avenue
  • Tri-West Neighborhood Watch — from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Rugby Drive between Westbourne Drive and Westmount Drive
  • Owl Neighbourhood Watch — from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., 1133/1132 N. Ogden Drive between Santa Monica Boulevard and Fountain Avenue
  • West Hollywood Gateway — 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., 7100 Santa Monica Boulevard
  • City of West Hollywood Recreation Services Department Movies in the Park – 6-8pm at Plummer Park, 7377 Santa Monica Boulevard
  • Russian-speaking Advisory Board of West Hollywood Block Party — 6-9 p.m. at Plummer Park, 7377 Santa Monica Boulevard

This year was the 41st.st The annual National Night Out (NNO) began in 1984 as an effort to encourage participation in crime prevention activities, law enforcement, community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie – and to send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized against crime.

Nationwide, more than 35 million people gather outdoors in neighborhoods to celebrate their unity and their achievements in the fight against crime. The celebration of National Night Out has been a tradition in West Hollywood since the city’s founding.
