The Browns lost second-year center Luke Wypler to a leg injury at 11:58 in the second quarter of Saturday’s game against the Green Bay Packers.
Wypler, whose right leg was in an aircast, was carried off the field after going down on a pass play. Wypler, a 2023 sixth-round draft pick from Ohio State, was expected to be the team’s backup center. His injury joins a list of battered offensive linemen, as tackles Jedrick Will and Jack Coughlin are still recovering from knee injuries.
Wypler did not return to the game due to an ankle injury. Coach Kevin Stefanski announced in his post-game press conference that Wypler would need surgery.
He was replaced by Zack Johnson, who last played for the Birmingham Stallions of the United Football League.
