Disney Cruise Line has just announced four new ships.
No, not the one you’re thinking of.
We already knew that Disney Treasure was launching this December, Disney Adventure and Disney Destiny were setting sail next year, and that Disney was collaborating with Oriental Land Company, owner of Tokyo Disney Resort, to develop a new OLC-operated ship inspired by Disney Wish.
On Saturday night at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, four more ships were announced that will launch between 2027 and 2031. The new ships will double the cruise line’s fleet over the next decade.
“Demand for our existing cruise fleet is very, very high, so we know there is a great opportunity here to invest aggressively in additional cruise ships,” Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Experiences, told USA TODAY.
Disney Cruise Line is very popular with existing Disney fans, especially families.
“We know that 40 to 50 percent of the guests who come on one of our ships say the only reason they cruise today is because Disney is here. That’s basically why we created this space,” he said. “We also know that those guests have exceptional experiences with us. They rate us very, very highly and tend to want to come back.”
He said the additional ships will reach an even wider audience.
Referring to Disney Adventure, which will be the first Disney ship to sail in Southeast Asia, he said: “Now we will have a fleet that can meet our fans where they are and tell them all of our incredible stories.”
