Olivia Munn revealed in her Instagram story that she bought ready-made cakes for John Mulaney’s 42nd birthday. The photo showed two cakes: one with chocolate frosting and the words “Happy Birthday” and another with white frosting and the words “John John”, both decorated with four red candles.
Munn humorously noted, “I didn’t have the energy to bake a (bad) birthday cake this year, so I went to the grocery store.”

Olivia Munn has shared several Instagram stories about John Mulaney’s birthday cake, including this year’s and last year’s. With Justin Bieber’s Sorry playing in the background, she posted a picture of a ruined cake from last year decorated with sprinkles and candles that read “Happy Birthday.” The video features a collaboration with her son, Malcolm Hiệp.
Munn previously shared a video of her son Malcolm defaced the cake by making a dent in it and reaching for the knife. In an Instagram Stories clip, Munn joked, “I tried to make a four-layer birthday cake and the bottom layer is coming off,” adding in the caption, “Like and subscribe for more baking tips.”
Although the cake didn’t look quite perfect, Munn humorously called it a “delicious success.” Malcolm’s sweet birthday message to his mother added a heartfelt note: “Happy birthday, mommy!” Munn responded, “Oh my gosh! Thank you so much, you’re the sweetest,” and encouraged Malcolm to say, “I love you, mommy,” to which he replied, “I love you so much.”
After Munn’s birthday, she and Mulaney held a simple wedding ceremony at a friend’s house in upstate New York, with only Malcolm and a best man in attendance. The simple ceremony reflected their preference for a private and intimate celebration.
