Lautaro Martinez remains doubtful for the match between Inter and Atalanta in Serie A

There are still significant questions as to whether Lautaro Martinez will be fit for Inter Milan’s Serie A match against Atalanta this Friday.

This is stated in today’s print edition of the Milan newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, FCInterNewsThey report that the Nerazzurri captain will continue to train individually in the coming days.

Inter captain Martinez was not part of the squad for Saturday’s Serie A win against Lecce.

The Argentinean had been in the squad for the season opening match against Genoa the previous weekend.

However, Martinez had developed a muscle problem during the week. It turned out that it was a strain of the adductor muscle.

Martinez is currently trying to get fit again after a late return to training.

The captain was the last Inter player to take part in the pre-season training, as he had won the Copa America with Argentina and was in action until mid-July.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi did not risk Martinez against Lecce. The Argentine was not even on the bench in this game, Inter’s first at San Siro this season.

However, there was a big question mark as to whether the Inter captain would be fit for Inter’s next game.

The Nerazzurri host Atalanta in their third Serie A match of the season. It will be their last game before the first international break of the season.

Even if Martinez can recover from his injury, there are considerable doubts as to whether he will be back in shape for the duel.

The 27-year-old will therefore probably only end up with a place on the bench.
