A San Jose State University student was found dead in his dorm room over the weekend, the university confirmed.

The student, whose identity was not disclosed, was discovered in Spartan Village on Paseo.

“This loss is heartbreaking and devastating to our close-knit San Jose State University community, especially at the start of a new academic year. This was an isolated incident and the cause of death is currently unknown,” the university wrote in a statement.

The incident did not pose a threat to other students or the campus community.

The residential complex, a former hotel converted into 679 student beds, opened in mid-August.
