Art, Beats & Eats, Michigan State Fair and more things to do this Labor Day weekend

Summer is coming to an end. Enjoy the rest of the summer at these events this Labor Day weekend:

Detroit Sandwich Party

  • Sunday, September 1st from 12pm to 5pm
  • Eastern Market Shed 5

Celebrate sandwiches by eating, you guessed it, sandwiches. While you eat your sandwich(s), enjoy live music and drinks.

Admission is free, but VIP tickets are also available. You can purchase tickets here.

Art, beats and food

  • Friday, August 30th to Monday, September 2nd
  • Downtown Royal Oak

Music will be back in Royal Oak all weekend long. Hundreds of artists will perform at this annual festival, while dozens of food vendors will provide food and vendors will showcase their art.

Headliners include Tesla, Dustin Lynch, Chevelle and Keith Sweat.

Advance tickets cost $7 until 11:59 p.m. After that, prices range from $10 to $12, and admission is free before 5 p.m. on Friday.

Detroit Jazz Festival

  • Friday, August 30th to Monday, September 2nd
  • Downtown Detroit

Spend your holiday weekend at the largest jazz festival in the world, held here in Detroit.

Dozens of artists will perform on stages at Hart Plaza and Cadillac Square.

Hamtramck – Labor Day

  • Saturday, August 31 to Monday, September 2

Jack White will be on stage for a bit when he reunites with The Hentchmen at this year’s Hamtramck Labor Day Festival. Other artists on the bill include Detroit rappers Sada Baby, Bruiser Wolf, Gmac Cash and Esham, Canadian rock band Sloan, Mike Skill of The Romantics, The Polish Muslims of Hamtramck and more.

In addition to music, the annual event includes a carnival, wrestling shows, a canoe race, a parade and a pierogi eating contest.

Michigan Renaissance Festival

There’s a Viking invasion at Ren Fest this weekend, and you can win prizes with your tattoos or beard.

Corevette Fest

  • Saturday, August 31
  • Canterbury Village in Lake Orion

This car show features more than 100 Corvettes on display and also includes live entertainment and a silent auction.

Proceeds benefit Leader Dogs for the Blind.

Admission is free. Registration for Corvette owners attending the show is $25 in advance and $35 at the door. Pre-registration ends two days before the show.

Michigan State Fair

Enjoy all the fairground fun this weekend with rides, livestock shows, a pumpkin contest, a home brewing contest and more.

Romeo Peach Festival

Celebrate peach season with food and fun at Romeo.

The festival includes a children’s activity area, a carnival, a parade and more.

College Football

Summer is coming to an end and that means football season is back!

Michigan State University will face Florida Atlantic in East Lansing on Friday at 7:30 p.m., while Michigan will face Fresno State on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
