As Kamala HarrisAs the campaign gains momentum, several social media users claim that the Democratic candidate is using AI imagery to show large crowds at her rallies. Influencers and Donald Trump Supporters ran photos of the vice president’s events through AI detectors and posted screenshots of the results on X, a platform formerly known as Twitter.
These social media claims emerged only after Trump accused Harris and her running mate Tim Walz of running with a “false record.” The former president was speaking at a rally in Montana.
“So as commander in chief, you don’t run away and hide from the press,” the 78-year-old said. “You know, they’re running away and they want to come into office with a false record. They both have a false record,” he added.
The Republican candidate made a similar claim on Truth Social on Wednesday. “When Kamala brings 1,000 people to a rally, the press goes crazy talking about how ‘big’ she was – and they pay for their ‘crowd.’ When I have a rally and 100,000 people show up, the fake news doesn’t talk about it. THEY REFUSE TO MENTION THE SIZE OF THE CROWD. The fake news is the enemy of the people!”
Social media users have now found apparent evidence that Harris has been posting AI images to show large crowds at her rallies. In one image, influencers claimed the Democratic campaign boasted about having “20,000 people in a small airplane hangar.” Some also claimed that some faces in the crowd were distorted.
We checked one Kamala Harris rally Image on the Hugging Face AI detector. The result showed that the photo was 94% artificial.
