Read on to find out more…“We tried for a very long time and with all our might, but the passes were the straw that broke the camel’s back.” lily wrote on X. “This is the part of the podcast that the tabloids refused to quote in their articles about how I ‘abandoned my puppy.'”

She continued: “People have reacted angrily to a deliberately distorted string of quotes designed to make people angry. As a result, I have received some truly vile messages, including death threats. Some of the most disgusting comments have been all over my social media channels, and I’m really not surprised because that’s exactly what these articles are designed to do. I’m fine, but it’s been a really rough few days for me and my family.”

“We rescued our puppy Mary from a shelter in New York and we loved her very much, BUT she developed pretty severe separation anxiety and reacted in all sorts of ways.” lily explained. “She could not be left alone for more than 10 minutes. She went on three long walks a day, two with us and one with a local dog walker and several other dogs. We worked with the shelter we rescued her from and they referred us to a behavior specialist and a professional trainer. It was a volunteer from the shelter who came and looked after her when we were away and after many months and careful consideration, everyone agreed that our home was not the best for Mary.”

“We knew the person she was being placed with and the placement was made within 24 hours of her return. We were unable to meet Mary’s needs and her happiness and well-being were paramount in our decision, difficult as it was.” lily shared. “I have had rescue dogs regularly all my life since I was 4 years old, I can judge a dog’s needs pretty well, I have never been accused of mistreating an animal and I found this whole week very stressful.”

lily pleaded: “Please stop responding to clickbait articles if you have not done your due diligence. I know the people who sent horrific messages did not listen to the podcast but read Mail Online and the articles and videos that followed. I could tell exactly who their sources were from the language they used.

“It’s a distortion, and all you’re doing by engaging with these stories is making more money for the people who benefit from it, creating division and tearing us all apart.” lily concluded. “Just as misinformed people acted on distorted propaganda that led to the racially motivated xenophobic riots we saw recently in the UK, this is all just so toxic and I know we can do better.”

In another recent interview lily spoke openly about trying to balance motherhood and career.
