Hughes will perform with his band at Feinstein’s Cabaret at the Hotel Carmichael in Carmel on September 7 at 7:30 p.m. His musical director and drummer is Terence Mayhue, who will accompany Hughes and four other band members for a performance lasting approximately 80 minutes.

“We did Feinstein’s in January and it was a success, so they booked me two more times,” Hughes said. “It snowed, but people came. Carmel is a beautiful place.”

Hughes will return to Feinstein on October 11.

“I’ll be playing three of my original songs from my EP that we recorded,” he said. “I’ll also be playing well-known songs from the Great American Songbook.”

The EP’s first single, “My Lucky Stars,” was co-written by Byron Hill and Roger Brown. Hill is a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.

“It will be in a film called ‘The Thief of Falling Stars,’ with actors doing a version in both Italian and English,” Hughes said.

Hughes said the Italian version is expected to be released in the fall, with an American version to follow

Hughes, who is from Manchester, England, and now lives near Aiken, South Carolina, recorded “My Lucky Stars” with Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles. The string section of the song was recorded at Ocean Way Studio in Nashville, Tennessee.

“We are working to secure as many live performances as possible,” Hughes said.
