Rosario Dawson’s best friend is offering his house, which the actress renovated, for million

A Los Angeles home lovingly renovated by a Hollywood star Rosario Dawson as a surprise for her close friend has been put up for sale for nearly $2 million – months after it was featured on the hit HGTV show “Celebrity IOU.”

In January, 45-year-old Dawson teamed up with renovation professionals Jonathan and Drew Scottthe real estate brothers to surprise their best friend Sal with a stunning interior transformation that saw the home’s living and dining rooms renovated.

But while Sal seemed overjoyed after revealing the incredible restoration on television a few months ago, he is now offering the five-bedroom Los Angeles property for $1,995,000.

In the episode, Dawson raved about her long-standing friendship with Sal, a costume designer she met when she was just 19.

“I don’t know if I can ever tell you how much it meant to me that I was able to stay with you when I first came (to Los Angeles). You drove me to my auditions, helped me with my wardrobe and made sure I was comfortable,” she told Sal before unveiling the property’s new interior.

“They made my family feel like it was okay and safe for me to be out here alone,” she added.

And Sal didn’t hold back when it came to praising Dawson in return: “I remember meeting you and then your mom, and we were all instantly family. Your mom told you to take care of my little girl,” he told her.

“You were like my sister from day one. There are only a few people who stay in your life. You are my family,” he said.

No more grandma vibes

When Sal first shows the Scott brothers his house, he admits that the living room decor has a “granny vibe.” Jonathan agreed that the room looked old-fashioned.

“Sal’s house is a Hollywood Regency style,” he said. “It was popular from the 1920s to the 1950s and is known for its ornate details, but now it looks pretty worn.”

The team modernized the living room by expanding and updating the bookcase, removing the shutters, and painting the ceiling black.

“The black trim and ceiling draw the eye upward, making the room appear larger and creating a sense of grandeur,” Jonathan said of the new color. “It’s a bold decision, but it will really pay off.”

After the changes, this room follows the Regency aesthetic and looks much more chic.

A delicious dining room

During the renovation, Dawson suggested redesigning the living room as well.

The brothers accepted her suggestion, covered the old-fashioned yellow walls with elaborate wallpaper and painted the door black.

With the grandmotherly vibe gone, the finished dining room looks much bolder and more dramatic.

Some rooms still need help

Built in 1939, the 2,300-square-foot home is full of other eccentricities, including purple kitchen cabinets, eye-catching chandeliers and a grand staircase with an ornate banister.

While Drew and Jonathan only renovated the living and dining rooms, several other rooms appear to have been recently updated. The master bathroom shines with new tile and clean white cabinets, thanks to a sleek stand-up shower.

But other rooms seen in the listing photos have outdated furnishings.

The master bedroom still has yellow walls – similar to those in the dining room before the renovation – and old-fashioned furniture.

While the brothers who own the home have given the living and dining rooms a dramatic update, there is still plenty of room for the next owner to add his own personal touch.
