Your first warning: Sunday night and Monday the chance of rain is back

Late Sunday night into early Monday morning, we expect increasing cloud cover and scattered showers across Eastern Iowa. Thunderstorms are also possible as we have a cloudy and in some cases wet start to the work week. Cloud cover will persist for most of Monday morning and afternoon while scattered showers and a few thunderstorms linger in the area. This will keep our highs in the upper 20s.

There will be isolated showers again from Sunday night to Monday morning.

Your first warning: Seasonal temperatures and active weather are returning

It’ll be dry again on Tuesday, but as the work week progresses we’ll be in the transition zone between very warm air to the southwest and cooler air to the northeast. This transition zone is where the jet stream will form, and as disturbances move along the jet stream, they’ll move over our area, bringing us periodic storm threats. We’ll have more details on the exact timing and impacts toward the middle and end of next week, but for now consider this your first warning of more changeable weather. This setup will also bring a return to seasonable temperatures between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius. Humidity will also return as dew points gradually rise to 18 to 20 degrees Celsius by midweek.

Next week there is a chance of occasional increased storms.
