Tour Story: MD-1 in DC! | News | Official Site

We just had to get one more sleep while the Blues prepared for our last game in the USA.

The Chelsea team worked hard again in Washington, DC ahead of Sunday’s match against Arsenal at Audi Field

At an open training session at Episcopal High School, guests of our tour partner Barclays and fans of the Beltway Blues fan group watched our final preparations for our friendly against Arsenal.

The session began with rondos before moving on to running drills. The majority of the training consisted of drills involving the whole team, with a focus on playing the ball in possession.

After practice and before heading to the gym, players had the opportunity to meet and greet those who had been invited to watch, and there were plenty of signed jerseys and footballs.

Bompastor said of the Blues’ final appearance on the pitch before their match against Arsenal: “It’s matchday minus one, so I wanted the girls to have fun and enjoy the ball.”

“We have worked hard the last two days and today was more about having the ball, enjoying being together and competing a bit with the games. I saw a lot of quality and good preparation for tomorrow.”

After lunch at the hotel in the afternoon, three players – Charlotte Wardlaw, Katie Cox and Lucy Watson – headed back to our training ground for an event with FICO and the Arlington County Girls Academy. This academy runs a programme for the U13 to U19 age group and aims to provide access to football for children of all abilities and backgrounds.

At the event, the Blues trio met with the Arlington players and took photos with them before sharing their experiences of living in the US and playing for Chelsea in a question-and-answer session.

That evening, three other players – Catarina Macario, Mia Fishel and Oriane Jean-Francois – took part in a fan group event attended by many fans.

The meeting included a question and answer session and a raffle where one lucky fan took home a signed Mayra Ramirez shirt!
