The micro-roastery and cafe will offer its full coffee menu and specialty items in an exciting new space
East Van’s popular Prototype Coffee is expanding and will open its second location next week.
Vancouver Microcroastery has partnered with Please! Beverage Co.’s Mount Pleasant space to operate a daytime cafe “tasting room” in addition to its cocktail shop at 222 W 5th Ave. The new cafe complements its other storefront at 883 E Hastings St.
Please! opened the location in spring 2023, using the front portion for retail and food service offerings and the back portion for production of its line of canned cocktails and herbal-flavored spirits.
Prototype made the announcement on social media, describing the new location as follows: “In the morning and early afternoon it will be Prototype Mount Pleasant, then in the late afternoon it will switch to Please! Beverage Co serving cocktails and food.”
As Prototype notes, the Please! space is large and bright, with indoor and outdoor seating.
Prototype’s menu features approximately 15 to 20 types of espresso daily, as well as a fully equipped brewing and espresso bar.
In addition to the full coffee menu, Prototype offers its famous “waffle donuts”.
“This is an exciting opportunity for us to try some new and innovative approaches behind the bar and also focus a little more on the taste experience for our guests,” added Prototype.
Please!’s new Mount Pleasant tasting room will go into soft launch mode starting Monday, August 12. Hours will be Monday and Tuesday from 11am to 3pm and Wednesday to Friday from 8am to 3pm.
