Cleveland Browns linked to Green Bay Packers as possible trade partner

The Cleveland Browns are ready to face the Seattle Seahawks in their final preseason game tonight, but they too are close to making roster cuts.

In the team’s final preseason game, many players will be fighting for their jobs. This is the case at the quarterback position.

Both Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Tyler Huntley know they may be playing their last game with the team. Many believe Thompson-Robinson will get the job, but there have been rumors that the Browns may be willing to trade him.

With this in mind, there are a few teams that might make sense.

Dawg Pound daily has suggested a very interesting team as a possible transfer destination. They think the Green Bay Packers could be a potential trade partner for Cleveland.

Here’s their reasoning for why the Packers are a potential suitor for Thompson-Robinson.

“Their backup situation looked pretty pathetic this preseason, with Sean Clifford and Michael Pratt both failing to impress as backup and third-string quarterbacks. Still, maybe a deal could be worked out with Green Bay. Thompson-Robinson would be a much better backup option for Matt LaFleur, and Packers fans might not have to panic so much if Love had to miss a few games.”

To be honest, the reasoning is sound. Green Bay cannot be happy with the situation of its backup quarterback. Thompson-Robinson would be an immediate reinforcement for them.

Thompson-Robinson played in eight games in his rookie season last year. He completed 53.6 percent of his passes for 440 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions, and gained 65 yards on the ground.

The young quarterback had his difficulties, but showed flashes of his potential.

Over the years, the Packers have done a great job of developing quarterbacks, and bringing in a player like Thompson-Robinson would make a lot of sense.

Of course, there’s no guarantee the Browns will actually want to trade their young second-year quarterback. They would only do so if they received something very valuable in return.

Still, it’s something to keep an eye on. Green Bay is a possible destination, but there are a number of other teams that would likely be interested in signing a talented young quarterback.

It will be interesting to see what Cleveland does. They have to make a decision regarding their third quarterback. Keeping Thompson-Robinson seems like the likely outcome, but that is far from certain.
