On this day 56 years ago, a Seattle Seahawks legend was born. Cortez Kennedy of Osecola, Arkansas, was born. In a short time, he became one of the most feared defensive backs in the National Football League and one of the most beloved icons in the history of Seattle sports.
Originally the No. 3 pick in the 1990 NFL Draft, Kennedy quickly developed into a player who terrified offensive linemen week after week. In 1992, he was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year. To date, Kennedy and Kenny Easley are the only Seahawks to win the award.
Unfortunately, Kennedy left this world far too early in 2017.
To honor his greatness on his birthday, please watch this tribute video to one of the greatest defensive linemen of all time.
