Sami Zayn hints at collaboration with John Cena upon his WWE retirement

John Cena’s WWE farewell tour is just around the corner and fans and fellow wrestlers alike are excited. Many top stars are looking forward to getting another chance to compete in the ring against the legendary Superstar.

One of those stars is Sami Zayn, a former Intercontinental Champion who recently explained how much he would like one last fight with Cena before hanging up his boots. While speaking to Peter Rosenberg on Cheap Heat, Zayn discussed his thoughts on a direct fight against Cena.

Zayn says: “I would never turn down an opportunity to be in the same ring with John Cena.” “You want him there with you. You want him there. Your entire career depends on him: facing John Cena in a match.”

Sami Zayn Wrestling Journey

Zayn looked back on his journey in wrestling and mentioned that a fight against Cena was not originally part of what he had envisioned for his career.

Zayn grew up on the independent scene and always wanted to be at the top of every promotion he worked for, rather than focusing on individuals. “You just want to perform at the highest level with the best people,” Zayn said of wrestling matches.

“When I look back… 15 years ago, it seemed impossible that I would ever share a ring with him.” Although it was unexpected, this could mean another confrontation between Zayn and Cena, which only excites him more.

It was also revealed that he would like to win the first Intercontinental Championship, which he once held but which El Hombre Bron Breakker recently took from him at SummerSlam. “I would like my title back” and maybe one or two more matches with John before he retires, Sami says.

Their last encounter took place on May 4, 2015 on Raw. Although Zayn’s debut match on the WWE main roster was against Cena, it is important to note that this was the first day he competed on a show of this type. With Cena retiring soon, fans would like to know if Zayn can still fulfill his dream of one last in-ring encounter.
