The only two-time Heisman Trophy winner turned 70 years young this week. Born on August 21, 1954 in Columbus, Ohio, former Ohio State legend Archie Griffin would change college football forever. His list of on-field accomplishments is longer than most, and his contributions to the Ohio State football program didn’t end when he stopped lacing up his cleats.
The two-time All-American once served as CEO of the Ohio State University Alumni Association and served as assistant athletic director. This has been a memorable year for Griffin, as a statue of him was unveiled at the Rose Bowl last week and another statue will be unveiled at Ohio Stadium next week to mark the 50th anniversary of his first season winning the Heisman Trophy.
