John Michael Wieland, 64, of Riverside, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at his residence. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Riverside. Burial will be private. John was born on February 15, 1960 in Iowa City, Iowa to Kenneth and Mary (Lenz) Wieland. He graduated from Highland High School. John worked as a cook at various locations including Mercy Hospital, University of Iowa Hospital, Christian Conference Center, and most recently at Legacy. He enjoyed taking care of his ducks and chickens and loved his two dogs, Birdie and Bella. He also enjoyed cooking for his family and will be remembered as a fun-loving guy.
He will be sadly missed by his mother, Mary Wieland of Lone Tree, his sister, Becky Hedden of Rogers, Arkansas, his brother, Randy Wieland of Riverside, his nieces and nephews Tracy Hall, Brian Mencl, Jake Wieland and Ronnie Wieland, and several great- and great-grandnieces and nephews.
His father and brother Rick Wieland predeceased him.
