Why does Guillermo Del Toro live in a haunted hotel?

The horror season is just around the corner and nobody loves horror more than director Guillermo del Toro, director of Pan’s Labyrinth, Shape of Water, and (Oscar winner for) this cool stop motion Disney’s Frozen 2.

The director is currently in Aberdeen, Scotland, filming an adaptation of Frankenstein. (I know – I was surprised he hadn’t done that already.)

What’s up with Guillermo del Toro staying in a haunted hotel?

Even more Del Toro apparently decided to stay in what he describes as the “most haunted” room in his hotel. Apparently, one of the film’s producers had stayed in that room but checked out after some “strange” occurrences.

So del Toro had to do the most personal thing he’s ever done and take care of it himself by documenting the experience on X. Guillermo. nothing good will come of this!

“If anything happens, I’ll report,” del Toro posted on Tuesday. My goodness, if that isn’t the “last tweet ever” I’ve ever seen. But fear not, because del Toro gave an update the next day that he actually not sleep in the room to stay fresh on long days of filming.

Hmmm, does that count as “staying in a haunted hotel room,” Mo? I don’t really think so. By that logic, I’m technically “staying” at my local CVS.

Okay, okay – that sounds a little disturbing. Angry ghosts, I’m told, are not ideal. In the next post, however, del Toro gives us photographic evidence of the fabled “Room No. 4” and yes, the thing looks as haunted as hellooooo.

Del Toro then posted a mirror photo that makes it look like the room is haunted… by him.

Do we have a Sixth sense Situation we are facing here?

Del Toro decides to take matters into his own hands by attempting to download an EVP onto his phone and go on some amateur ghost hunting himself.

However, the saga does not seem to have produced any actual ghostly evidence.

To date, Guillermo’s last word on this subject was a small epilogue.

So it seems del Toro survived the spooky ordeal, although who knows if it would have been different had he spent more than, say, 15 minutes in there at a time. Have some fun next time, GDT!
