Obituary for John R. Bricker 2024

John R. Bricker, 74, of Gibsonburg passed away peacefully on the morning of August 23, 2024, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, surrounded by his wife.

He was born on November 7, 1949, in Bellefonte, PA, to the late Samuel and Betty (Ziegler) Bricker, and moved to Ohio at age 14.

On December 10, 1976, John married Susie Pertner in St. Michael’s Catholic Parish. They were married for over 47 years.

John began his career as a chemist at Woodville Lime before the company became Martin Marietta. He retired in 2014 after 48 years of dedicated service to Martin Marietta.

John was a loyal member of Saint Michael’s Catholic Parish. He enjoyed golf and watching Penn State football games. He also enjoyed biking and participating in many GOBA events. John also loved pork rinds and Snyders pretzels, which his family will not soon forget. He found greatest joy in spending time with his grandchildren and spending winters in Florida.

In addition to his wife Susie, John was blessed with two children, Kathryn “Katie” (Brad) Heter and Andrew “Andy” (Cassie) Bricker, grandchildren Alyssa (Sam) Suttles, Alex Heter, Addie Bricker and Liv Bricker, and his great-grandson Jackson Suttles.

John was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Betty and his sisters Barbara and Linda.

The wake for John will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Parish. The memorial mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. The funeral will be held in private with the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s name to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
