David Bromstad’s lavish life

David Bromstad’s lavish life

After debuting on HGTV in 2006, David Bromstad quickly went from winner of the first season of “Design Star” to network star. His credits include “Color Splash,” “Rock the Block,” and of course, “My Lottery Dream Home.” He’s also worked with major brands like Kipling, Naturalizer, and Sherwin-Williams. It goes without saying that the designer is doing pretty well for himself now. As he once told Adwerx, “I’m completely blessed. I went from being a starving artist to being a not-so-starving artist.”

When Bromstad isn’t helping lottery winners spend their money on new dream homes, he seems to love spending his own money on whatever his heart desires. The HGTV star lives in his own dream home, has a killer wardrobe, and travels the world when he’s not filming. Whether he’s spending money on new tattoos, flashy clothes, or fun furniture, the TV star always goes all out. Honestly, we can’t get enough of his lavish actions.

He owns a dream house in Florida

Every now and then, HGTV star David Bromstad’s personal and professional lives intermingle. In 2021, a special episode of the show was devoted to Bromstad’s search for his perfect property, and he really picked out a gem. After living in an apartment throughout the pandemic, Bromstad felt it was time to move and try something completely different. “I had been looking and looking and looking and looking and I knew what I wanted, but it literally changed every week,” he told HGTV at the time. Eventually, he found the ideal home: A charming Tudor-style house in Florida with four bedrooms, five bathrooms, and an outdoor kitchen. According to the host, he immediately fell in love with the property. “When a house hits you, it hits you, and I found a house and it hit me — hit me hard,” he said. The abode wasn’t cheap: It was reportedly on the market for $950,000.

Although Bromstad hasn’t shown much of his home on his Instagram profile other than Christmas decorations, it’s not hard to see that his decorating style is as eclectic as his fashion sense. Photos taken during the pandemic in his old apartment show Bromstad lounging on a pink sofa, which will come as no surprise to his fans. When speaking to Realtor in 2021 about his design plans, Bromstad said, “It’s going to be delicious, tasteful, daring, yet really cozy.”

David Bromstad loves travelling

It’s probably safe to assume that becoming the face of HGTV’s “My Lottery Dream Home” has done David Bromstad’s bank account some good. It’s also safe to assume that Bromstad likes to spend his income on travel. The TV star regularly shares snippets of his vacations on Instagram for his followers to see. In 2023, Bromstad turned 50, and to celebrate the milestone, he packed his bags and headed to Norway. He shared a photo of himself in front of a lake and wrote, “I decided to celebrate in Norway to see how my ancestors lived and what air they breathed. Being here has answered so many questions about why I love the things I do.”

Bromstad went on to say he made the most of what the area had to offer, kayaking, hiking and enjoying nature. Norway isn’t the only beautiful place Bromstad has visited. He spent time in Iceland and dedicated an entire highlight on his Instagram profile to the trip, with clips showing him at Iceland’s largest lake and much more.

Although those trips were on the cooler side, don’t be fooled – Bromstad loves the sun too. In 2019, he visited Mykonos in Greece, but it wasn’t his first trip there. The star had traveled to the stunning tourist hotspot just two years earlier.

He has a huge jewelry collection

If you want to get a glimpse of HGTV star David Bromstad’s jewelry collection, just watch one of his shows or visit his Instagram. The TV star loves to wear a statement piece of jewelry…or five. In a behind-the-scenes look at 2024’s My Lottery Dream House, for example, Bromstad is seen wearing a long, layered pearl necklace, several pearl bracelets, and plenty of sparkly rings.

Some of Bromstad’s jewelry can be relatively simple, with just one or two delicate necklaces layered on top of each other for a more understated look. Others, however, can be truly outlandish. It’s not uncommon for the host to be seen wearing huge colorful beads, large stacks of bracelets, and more. While there isn’t much information available about what all of his jewelry is worth, one thing is for sure: Bromstad doesn’t cut corners when it comes to dressing for visual impact.

However, we do have some information on some pieces. In 2021, Bromstad shared a selfie he took while wearing several silver chains, all of which had large pendants. He said that a designer named Georgianna Koulianos gave them to him for free. Her silver pieces can cost anywhere from $150 to $3,000, so needless to say, he got a great deal.

David Bromstad has an extensive wardrobe

As longtime fans of My Lottery Dream Home will know, David Bromstad has worn some arguably inappropriate outfits in his life. But he’s also worn plenty of exciting and fun ensembles that really hit the mark. His bold, maximalist looks keep us on our toes, and sometimes it seems like Bromstad has an endlessly lavish wardrobe. It’s clear that the star loves flamboyance and color when it comes to his clothing, and he’s not afraid to buck trends to wear something that brings him joy.

In an August 2024 Instagram post, Bromstad is seen wearing a graphic tank top with a blue and pink plaid shirt tied around his waist. His cut-off denim shorts are only dwarfed by his bright pink baggy boots. Surprisingly, this is one of Bromstad’s tamer looks. He’s been known to wear everything from colorful shag coats to a pink cowboy outfit and a pink velvet suit.

Still, we have no idea how much he’s spent on his extensive clothing collection—all we know is that he has a lot of clothes. In a TikTok for HGTV, he noted that he buys a lot of secondhand clothing, which can be a great way to get more for your money. “Everything I wear is a dollar, I just make it look expensive,” he joked. A dollar here and a dollar there can add up quite a bit, especially when you have as extensive a wardrobe as Bromstad does.

He puts more than enough effort into the Christmas decorations

When it comes to the holidays, David Bromstad takes seasonal decorating to the next level. Some may say it’s too much, but for Bromstad, there are no limits. In a 2021 Instagram post, Bromstad shared that his parents, Diane and Richard, have been instrumental in shaping his approach to Christmas decorations.

The HGTV star posted photos he took of his house after decorating it for Santa’s arrival. The snaps featured not just one, but multiple Christmas trees, gnomes, tons of lights, and more. In the caption, he explained that it was the first time he’d been able to decorate with his sisters, and that it was definitely a family affair. “It must be in the genes too, because it’s just not normal, but we sure do love it,” he wrote. Oh, and when we say multiple Christmas trees, we mean a whole pile of trees: In his aforementioned chat with HGTV, he revealed that he put up a whopping 80 trees for the holiday season.

Bromstad also goes all out when the Halloween season rolls around. That same year, the host posted several photos of his home celebrating the spooky season. Cobwebs, battery-operated candles, chains, giant spiders, and more were seen in large numbers, covering every inch of Bromstad’s apartment. Christmas decorations can get expensive quickly, so we can only imagine how much his over-the-top Halloween and Christmas accessories cost him.

He spent a lot of time and money in the tattoo studio

David Bromstad’s iconic pop culture tattoos didn’t just appear overnight. Like an art collection, they were curated and developed over several years. Fans of “My Lottery Dream Home” may remember the early seasons when Bromstad had barely visible tattoos. Those days are long gone. The real estate expert is now nearly covered in artwork, and many of them mainly revolve around his love of all things Disney. His fan base runs deep: Before he was an HGTV star, Bromstad was a painter and window dresser at Walt Disney World.

“My Mickey Mouse tattoo is the most beautiful,” Bromstad said in a chat with his chosen tattoo parlor, Hart and Huntington in Orlando. “I love it so much. He not only makes me happy, but everyone else around me too. He’s epic – a carefree soul full of magic.” You might not know this about Bromstad, but he also has a scratch and sniff popcorn tattoo on his torso, inspired by his family’s love of the snack.

Bromstad also sports the word “Family” in large, colorful letters across his torso, a banner that reads “Limited Edition” across his chest, and more. According to the interview mentioned above, Bromstad would like to expand his collection and eventually cover around 40% of his tattoos. Tattoo artists can charge hundreds of dollars per session, but it’s obvious that Bromstad doesn’t mind parting with his hard-earned cash in the name of art.
