The Ambiente, Handcrafted Rugs is a studio that creates its magic through consciously designed rugs. Its name comes from the word “ambience”. We firmly believe that a rug sets the ambience of a living space. Its name sums up the atmosphere, the different features and the mood of an environment.
Each of the handcrafted rugs is an expression of rich craftsmanship and at the same time an expression of modernity and seamlessness in its design. The collections are characterized by playful textures and colorful yarns, made using versatile weaving techniques that have evolved over time. Only hypoallergenic natural fibers are used for these beautifully woven rugs. The Ambiente, Handcrafted Rugs belong to the parent company Bhadohi Carpets – a 35-year-old giant manufacturer and exporter in the Indian carpet industry with a network of over 10,000 artisans in 49 weaving centers.
About the founder
Founded by Avani Khandelwal and her brother-in-law Ayush Baranwal, The Ambiente, Handcrafted Rugs is a family business driven by their passion for beautiful rugs. Hailing from the cultural city of Jaipur, Avani has always had a keen interest in design, craft and culture.
Recognizing a gap in the market in the availability of genuine, handcrafted rugs, their quality and price, Avani and Ayush joined forces and founded the brand. The Ambiente, Handcrafted Rugs was founded to make the luxury of handwoven rugs accessible to the Indian market.
Design philosophy
Embodying the strong values and strengths of its parent company The Ambiente, Handcrafted Rugs is a new generation luxury rug atelier where each rug is in line with the current trend, be it modern, vintage, boho or neoclassical. The focus is on producing functional and aesthetically pleasing rugs for people from all walks of life.
