Buy decorations now or wait for the sale?

Buy decorations now or wait for the sale?

You don’t have to scroll far to see the term “Summer-ween” in your social media feeds.

From parties to decorations, Halloween is just around the corner.

So should you stock up on all these goodies now, or will you be tempted to spend money too early?

We went to Lowe’s to find out.

Stores are already teeming with giant Halloween decorations, including 12-foot-tall animatronic garden ghosts that growl, laugh and spit smoke.

These are not the simple inflatable boats we had 10 years ago.

Shopper Carol Cox is ready to shop and takes photos with her phone to send to her family.

“This is all new to me, that’s why I’m making videos of it, it’s great,” she said.

So should you wait for the sale?

Lowe’s manager Andrew Clark said if you’re interested in these lawn displays, including the extremely popular octopus, don’t wait to shop because they will sell out quickly.

“Buy them now,” he said. “Make sure you buy them when you can get them.”

And this doesn’t just apply to Lowe’s. Costco also offers fall decorations in July.

YouTube content creator Jade the Libra said it’s important to her to shop early to get the latest Halloween trends.

“If you want to see all the great stuff, you have to get there early,” she said, “and I’m talking June.”

And the hottest trend this year?

“I see pastels everywhere,” Jade said. “Everyone calls it ‘Pastel-oween’ or ‘Pinkaween’ because that’s what we’ve been seeing a lot of this year.”

Inflatable lawn items can cost $200 or more, and most items are now offered at full price or near full price.

Most major retailers have sales just before Halloween, so what can you do?

Jade said if you see something you like at discount stores like TJ Maxx or Burlington, buy it before it’s gone.

She said you could try thrift stores for a cheap Halloween.

“You can find great stuff that’s even just a year old or a couple of years old,” she said. “People are just trying to organize, sort through their stuff, and then you can find some really cool vintage pieces, too.”

So don’t wait.

“We call it Summerween,” said Andrew Clark of Lowe’s about his massive store display.

So get your Halloween decorations before they sell out so you don’t waste your money.
