High school football: Plymouth defeats Menasha 34-18
Plymouth used several explosive plays to defeat Menasha 34-18 in the season opener at Calder Stadium in Menasha.

Mukwonago 20, Appleton North 10
APPLETON – Mukwonago held the Lightning scoreless in the fourth quarter and scored a late touchdown on a reverse in the win at Paul Engen Field.
North (0-1) pulled within 13-10 with 2:44 left in the third quarter with a 34-yard field goal by Mason Skorstad. That lead lasted into the fourth quarter, when Nick Martin put the game out of reach for Mukwonago (1-0) with a 9-yard touchdown after a reverse with 5:05 left in regulation.
The Lightning struggled with form errors and personal fouls throughout most of the game, as well as dropped passes that prevented potential attacks.
“I’m frustrated with some of those mental mistakes,” North coach Rob Salm said. “Whether it’s losing your composure or not having enough people at the line of scrimmage, those procedures that you practice so hard and make sure everyone is on the same page. Then you’re in the spotlight and some kids may not be as organized as they should be. We’ve got to fix all of that.”
Charlie Olson scored a 43-yard touchdown on a quarterback sneak for Appleton North in the second quarter.
Mason Radobicky had a 3-yard touchdown run for Mukwonago, which also got an 11-yard touchdown catch from Luka Tess.
Bay Port 37, Middleton 28
MIDDLETON – The Pirates scored 16 points in the fourth quarter to come from behind to win against the Cardinals.
Matt Stevens got within a point with his 9-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter and then completed a 2-point conversion pass to Anthony LeFebre to give Bay Port the lead.
Bay Port scored another touchdown with 2:18 minutes left on LeFebre’s 6-yard touchdown run.
Stevens played well in his first start as quarterback, completing 16 of 24 passes for 211 yards and three touchdowns.
His favorite receiver was Sawyer Torp, who made nine catches for 128 yards.
LeFebre led Bay Port with 113 rushing yards on 22 carries.

MENASHA – The Panthers got a little revenge on the Bluejays by winning the season’s opening non-conference game at Calder Stadium after losing 31-8 to Menasha in the first round of the Division 3 playoffs last season.
Plymouth managed to provide Menasha’s defense with some explosive plays.
Brett Shutter scored on a 67-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, Deven Miller scored on an 89-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, Kayden Schultz caught a 47-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter, and Shutter added a 50-yard touchdown run for Plymouth’s final touchdown.
Menasha scored on a 2-yard touchdown run by Elijah Gigl late in the third quarter to cut the lead to 20-10.
With 2:21 minutes left in the game, Parker Wienandt scored the last points for the Bluejays with a 28-yard touchdown pass from Logan Liegl.

Chilton, which lost a fumble and was intercepted twice, was led by Hudson Ludwig, who ran for 59 yards.
