The presenter of “The Project” shocks with bizarre birthday confession: “This is embarrassing”

Liz Ellis appeared on The project on Thursday night and shared a surprising confession that some viewers called “embarrassing.” The confession came out while talking about British soccer player Callum Guy and his wife Abbie, who have admitted to lying to their children about their birthdays in order to fit his schedule, as he is often training or playing a game on their actual birthdays.

Abbie confessed that she tells her children that their birthdays are on days when she and Callum aren’t working so they can celebrate as a family. Liz then surprised the panel by saying: “I think who doesn’t lie to their children about their birthdays?”

“Most people in the world don’t do that,” said a shocked Waleed Aly.

“You should never lie to your children,” added Sam Taunton.

“I often say to my children, ‘Would I lie to you?’ And they often say, ‘Only when it suits you,’ and that’s true,” Liz joked, before alluding to Callum and Abbie’s children, saying: “Well, they’re two and three, so of course you would do their birthdays to suit you.”

The judges were baffled by this and Waleed asked at what age they would be told when their actual birthday is. “When they’re 18, you say, ‘Oh, you know what, your birthday is on the 24th this year.'”

“No, don’t be silly, I would have told them when they were 15,” Liz joked.

“Oh, mother of the year!” Sam teased.

Viewers were divided on the issue, with one user writing: “Totally agree. At this age, parents are key. Do what’s best for your family.”

“You are absolutely right,” said another.

“(Liz) is my type of mother,” said a third.

Others, however, were shocked by the admission. One user wrote: “This is embarrassing. Just teach the kids their real birthday and celebrate on a different day. It’s no big deal. That’s life.”

“How ridiculous can everyone be these days,” said another, while someone else wrote: “Lizzy, Lizzy, Lizzy, what on earth. I can agree with celebrating it in a way that suits the parents if it means one won’t be there on the actual day, but you don’t tell them their birthday is a different one.”

“I couldn’t do it,” one user simply added.
