For the good of Alaska, Nancy Dahlstrom should withdraw her candidacy for Congress, said a commenter on Dahlstrom’s campaign page on Facebook, adding: “Alaskans must stand together.”

After Dahlstrom posted a note on Facebook declaring she would be on the ballot in November, 86 people commented. All of these comments unequivocally advised her to drop out. There was only one commenter who advised her to stay in the race, and that comment sparked dissent and laughing emojis.

While paid political consultants in Washington DC are convincing her to stay in office because they stand to gain from the campaign results, the feedback Dahlstrom is getting from Alaskans is uniform. In a poll in the Must Read Alaska newsletter, respondents overwhelmingly thought she should resign: the poll was 95% against her.

After nine months in the race, she has only 350 followers on Facebook, but they do not support her current plan to stay in the race. Nick Begich is 23 points behind Rep. Mary Peltola, while Dahlstrom is 30 points behind.
