Primary Wave acquires the publishing rights of legendary composer and horn player Chuck Mangione, including his writing and related rights.

Leading independent publisher Primary Wave has announced a partnership with legendary composer, flugelhorn player and trumpeter Chuck Mangione. Under this new partnership, the publisher will receive Mangione’s music publishing and other music rights, including his author share, artist royalties and related rights.

The deal includes Mangione’s entire repertoire from his unparalleled career. The terms of the deal also give Mangione access to the company’s marketing team and publishing infrastructure, and he can work closely on new marketing, branding, digital and dubbing opportunities, as well as film and television projects.

During his more than five decades in the music business, Chuck has released over 30 albums. The deal includes the jazz sensation’s biggest hits, such as “Feels So Good,” “Bellavia,” “Land of Make Believe,” “Give It All You Got, But Slowly,” “Children of Sanchez,” “Once Upon A Love Time,” “Chase The Clouds Away,” and more.

Mangione was nominated for an incredible 14 Grammy Awards, winning two in 1976 for Best Instrumental Composition for “Bellavia” and again in 1979 for Best Pop Instrumental Performance for “Children of Sanchez.” That year, his biggest hit, “Feels So Good,” was also nominated for Record of the Year. The single was the title track of his 1977 jazz release and rocketed into the top 5 of the US charts.

“I’m really excited to join the list of legendary artists represented by Primary Wave,” said Mangione. “It’s such a good feeling for me to be in the company of such amazing artists and musicians.”

“We are thrilled to welcome Chuck Mangione to the Primary Wave family,” added Lexi Todd, Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs at Primary Wave. “To this day, Chuck’s music is a breath of fresh air and we are thrilled to continue to breathe new life into these timeless tunes. Chuck’s awards and accolades speak for themselves – he is a true master of his craft and an incredible addition to our list of legends.”

In addition to his music, Chuck Mangione has also appeared in several television shows, including as a cartoon version of himself in “King of the Hill.” He appeared in several episodes and his first appearance even had a specially recorded soundtrack.
