The fatal flaw of Disney World hotel rooms

The fatal flaw of Disney World hotel rooms

When it comes to Disney World hotels, we’ve seen it all – seriously! We’ve stayed at every one of these hotels, from the most budget-friendly to the most luxurious, and we know pros and cons for each.

Located 1.6 km from Wilderness Lodge, Wilderness Lodge provides accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking.

Of course, not everything is always first class, and if you really want to know: We believe that these hotels have one very obvious, fatal flaw.

We know the Disney World hotels inside and out, and have even stayed at each of them multiple times. As a team, we’re very aware of (and open about) our love for our favorites.

However, if we are really honest with ourselves, it is not always all sunshine and roses (in some cases, literally), and we need to enlighten you on the one constant flaw that connects them all — the bathrooms.

Bathroom of the Finding Nemo Suite

Yes, bathrooms at Disney World hotels come in all shapes and sizes depending on what category you stay in, but since they are all built as temporary shared accommodations, bathrooms are always an issue for us.

Two syllables: 1-layer

This is truly a “If you know it, KNOWLEDGE” situation and probably the least glamorous detail you’ll discover when you arrive. If you’re well acquainted with soft toilet paper, you might be shocked to discover that your room is stocked with the thinnest toilet paper known to man.

We are sure there are conservation reasons behind this decision and probably logistical and economic reasons too, but it will really set you back if you don’t expect it.

“There is no privacy here!”

Good old Uncle Orville may have been right when he decided to make his urgent need for a space of his own known. If you’ve ever walked into the bathrooms of a Disney World hotel, you can usually find your echo just by talking…now imagine having to get up in the middle of the night and having to really, well, go, and yeah…you get what we mean.

Additionally, the water pressure in the showers and bathtub is pretty strong, so you’ll definitely hear it when another family member turns on the faucet to fill the tub or start the shower, so everyone will know when you’re done.

And when it comes to washing your little ones off after a long day, you really need to pay attention to what room type you’ve booked. Not all bathrooms at Disney World come with a standard shower/tub combo (especially if you book an accessible room), so be sure to check where you’re staying and whether your hotel requires you to have a specific room type to get a tub combo or just a single shower.

Bath and shower

There is almost nothing worse for parents than having to think of a way to bathe their little ones after a busy day at the park.

Not all doors are the same

Disney World hotels are really trying to make their rooms more environmentally friendly and efficient, so don’t be too surprised if you see a standard door replaced with a sliding door in newer hotels or during renovations.

Only a thin door separates

We’re sure Disney has very good reasons for this, but if several people are getting ready in the morning and someone accidentally pushes the door aside, or you bump into it and forget to lock it, it could lead to some embarrassing stories later.

There are also some hotels that separate the makeup area from the master bedroom with a curtain, but this is not the same as a solid door.

We’ve cleared it up and aired our little gripes about how we all feel about the bathrooms at Disney World hotels. It’s also important to note that some of the points we’re complaining about could apply to most hotel facilities and could be due to an architectural design preference (or a nuisance, however you look at it).
