John Cena calls former WWE rival the greatest Superstar of all time – TJR Wrestling

John Cena thinks he knows who the greatest WWE Superstar of all time is, and he has a few reasons why.

As a veteran WWE Superstar with 22 years of main roster experience, John Cena has been in the ring with many of the greatest wrestlers of all time.

Fans of Cena can remember so many matches with the greatest superstars of all time such as The Rock, CM Punk, Randy Orton, AJ Styles, Shawn Michaels, Edge, Triple H, Bray Wyatt, Seth Rollins and many others.

It’s hard for anyone, WWE Superstar or not, to pick a single wrestler as the greatest of all time, but Cena did his best to explain why he chose Roman Reigns.

Although Cena and Reigns have not (yet) faced each other in the ring, they have faced each other several times and had a famous match at No Mercy 2017, where Reigns won the match over Cena. Most fans remember this feud for Cena mocking Reigns on the microphone leading up to this match.

During an interview with Pro Football Hall of Fame member Shannon Sharpe and his Club Shay Shay podcast, Cena was asked about his desire for the greatest WWE Superstar of all time and he gave an eloquent answer when asked why it is Reigns.

“It’s unbelievable that I’m saying that a talent who is still active and has many years ahead of him is the greatest of all time. But he’s been here since 2012, I had to work my way up. I started on the bench, then came into the Saturday program and then just lost every game. He came in with The Shield at a really high level and never let himself be slowed down.”

“Even when the fans didn’t like him, he was still in the main event. He’s been in the main event for over a decade now. And he’s held out for his time, and you could say whatever forces helped him, but in 2012 the stock was $11, WWE or TKO stock is now at $117, that’s on him.”

“There’s no better proof of that, and I know it’s a team effort and nobody does it alone, but to me, this is serious business. And to me, I have to show respect where respect is due. And Joe is smart, passionate about what he does, a generational athlete, respects his family, respects the locker room, respects the business. He’s just a very, very smart player and someone I respect. He would be my greatest of all time.”

When Sharpe mentioned The Rock as a possible candidate, Cena said that the choice was difficult and Rock could be number two, but he would choose Reigns.

John Cena confirms that his WWE contract extends beyond the end of his career in the ring

In the same podcast, John Cena also confirmed that he has signed a contract with WWE that will keep him in the company for many years after his retirement from the ring in 2025.

“I have such a trusting relationship with them. Over two decades. I’m a champion of the brand. I love the company. It’s my home. They’re my family. Even after 2025, I’ve already signed an extension to remain a member of the WWE family in the near, medium and long term future. I don’t think there will be a single heartbeat that doesn’t have WWE blood flowing out of it.”

John Cena has also confirmed that he will be attending the WWE Raw debut on Netflix on January 6, which is set to be a big night for the company.
