Couple who drove for hours to eat at Matty Matheson’s restaurant are denied entry

A video uploaded by an Instagram account reminds us why you should always reserve a table before going to a busy restaurant – especially if it is owned by a famous celebrity chef.

The Toronto couple behind @_foodyesplease recently took a road trip to Crystal Beach, Ontario, to visit local chef Matty Matheson’s restaurant, Rizzo’s House of Parm.

Located about two hours from Toronto, the restaurant serves Italian-American cuisine, including appetizers such as mozzarella sticks and meatballs, as well as a variety of parmesan and pasta dishes and Italian desserts.

Matheson also owns several other restaurants in Toronto, including Matty’s Patty’s and Prime Seafood Palace.

“We ended up making the two-hour drive to Rizzo’s House of Parm, which, if you don’t know, is one of celebrity chef Matty Matheson’s Italian restaurants,” the couple explains in the video.

“The entrance was 10/10 beautiful and that’s all we could rate because there was no room for any more people for the rest of the day.”

As a result, the couple had to eat chicken wings and fries at a “random location” in the middle of nowhere.

“So the lesson for the kids is essentially: if you have to drive far to go to a restaurant, always reserve a table,” they said.

According to the FAQ page on the restaurant’s website, part of the dining room and bar are available for walk-ins every evening. Tables and seating are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Spontaneous visitors are welcome from 4 p.m. and the restaurant offers a waiting list on the same day.

However, the restaurant advises that guest waiting areas are extremely limited, so those waiting for a reservation are asked to remain in their vehicles until notified by the concierge team.

“Your sign to always make that reservation!” the couple captioned the video.
