Mariah May talks about three-way kiss at AEW Forbidden Door; Whose idea was it?

Mariah May talked about her kiss with Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.

At Forbidden Door on June 30, Toni Storm successfully defended the AEW Women’s Championship against Mina Shirakawa. The match was full of drama, and fans wondered whose side Mariah May would be on, as she had a close bond with both women.

In the end, it seemed like everyone remained amicable, as the three women kissed after the match. May and Shirakawa had previously kissed on AEW television, and in a new interview with Freddie Prinze Jr. on Wrestling with Freddie, the star clarified that no one forced the women to kiss on TV.

“It wasn’t a suggestion. We just did it. Mina and I are very close. We’ve always been very close as stars. We just did it. The next time they said, ‘Hey, can you stop kissing?'”

“It’s my decision who I kiss” – Mariah May

Mariah May further stated that she would not participate in a situation if she felt uncomfortable doing so.

“I think there’s a bit of an archaic view of it and people seem to think we don’t have autonomy over our bodies. It’s my choice who I kiss. It’s my choice what I do. If I feel uncomfortable about something, I always say so.

I remember the usual suspects saying, “Oh my God. This is setting women’s wrestling back so far.” It’s like nobody forced us to do it to begin with. We chose to do it. It’s just how we show our affection for each other and that’s what we’ve always done in our friendship.

Like I said, if I don’t want to do something, I don’t do it. But me, Mina and Toni are three highly decorated wrestlers who have achieved great success all over the world on their own. So to tell us that we were putting a setback in women’s wrestling was pretty crazy to me. The numbers don’t lie. I think Toni, Mina and I had the highest rated segments for eight weeks in a row and that was a good thing.”

After brutally betraying her former friend, Mariah May will face Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s Championship at All In on August 25th.
