A man and his wife were arrested at Miami International Airport on Tuesday after he refused to deplane from an American Airlines plane (EEL) Flying to Las Vegas despite head bleeding.

Eugenio Ernesto Hernandez-Garnier, 27, and Yusleydis Blanca Loyola, 32, were both charged with trespassing after warning and resisting an officer without use of force. according to Local 10 News.

According to police, flight attendants noticed that Hernandez-Garnier’s head, which was bandaged, was bleeding. The crew asked him to clean his head and change the bandages, but he said he had no other bandages.

Hernandez-Garnier was asked to exit the plane several times because of her injury, but she refused, police said. Loyola was also asked to exit the plane, but she refused. The crew called police, who boarded the plane and ordered the two to exit. When they refused, the man and woman were arrested.

“After briefly resisting being handcuffed, they were subsequently arrested,” says the police report, which Local 10 has obtained.

Both Hernandez-Garnier and Loyola were taken to hospital for examination and then taken to jail.

Hernandez-Garnier was released from prison on Tuesday evening. He told NBC Miami He traveled to Miami for a hair transplant and liposuction. His wife also underwent cosmetic surgery in Miami. Hernandez-Garnier said his doctor had cleared him to fly, which he also told the cabin crew.

A flight attendant “told me you either have to get out or I’m calling the police,” he said, adding he was in pain from the surgery. “I said call the police because this is unfair. I paid for my flight. I don’t have anything illegal in my pocket. Everything is fine.”

Loyola broadcast the incident live and said she too was in pain. “We are being discriminated against and abused,” she said.

She also said that officials treated both of them roughly even though they were recovering from surgery.

Argemis Colomé, spokesman for Miami-Dade County, told the broadcaster: “All of this could have been avoided if they had simply followed the instructions or the request of the officials to leave the plane.”

In a statement, American Airlines said the couple “became disruptive and did not follow crew instructions.”

“The police responded and removed both passengers from the aircraft,” the airline said. “We thank our crew members for their professionalism and apologize to our passengers for the inconvenience.”
