See who the 49ers select in this way-too-early 2025 NFL Mock Draft

It may not be Week 1 yet, but that won’t stop us from releasing a Mock Draft 1.0 soon, looking at some potential draft picks for the San Francisco 49ers in 2025.

Some of you may groan, some of you may moan, but damn it, we’re going to go through some NFL Draft prospects together!

While we wait for the season to really get started, it’s always fun to look at the potential stars of tomorrow in the college ranks. In this article, we won’t look at them in detail, but will just take a look at some potential San Francisco 49ers of the future.

For simplicity, we’ll use the same basic draft order as last year, so pick No. 31 for the Niners and then go through the remaining picks they have from there.

No more nonsense, here is the first mock draft for the 2025 NFL Draft.

Pick No. 31: Emery Jones, offensive tackle, LSU

Emery Jones is a strong mauler with a basketball background and part of a promising tackle class that the 49ers can use to their advantage.

I mean, they’re bound to get tackled at some point, right?

Pick No. 63: Jack Sawyer, EDGE, Ohio State

Jack Sawyer didn’t quite live up to expectations as Ohio State’s top recruit, but the 6’4″, 250-pound EDGE still showed some potential in 2023 with 6.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and two deflected passes.

If Sawyer makes a big jump in 2024, he may no longer be available. But for now, he’s a Day 2 candidate with serious potential.

Pick No. 95: Jordan Burch, defensive tackle, Oregon

Here’s another defensive line candidate with great potential. Jordan Burch has shown some pass-rush ability with a total of 6.5 sacks in 2022 and 2023 for the Ducks.

The 49ers always like to invest in their defensive line, so this would fit with their strategy of selecting a strong pass rusher for the interior.

Pick No. 100
: Zy Alexander, Cornerback, LSU

The 49ers are still looking for the missing link to finally have a stable starting cornerback trio, but they’re close, so perhaps Zy Alexander can fill that role.

Alexander had a solid year at LSU after transferring from Southeastern Louisiana, with two interceptions and seven passes defensed. At 6’2″ and 195 pounds, he has good size and could be a good fit as a No. 2 cornerback.

And LSU usually produces great defensive backs anyway.

Pick No. 131: Will Putnam, center/guard, Clemson

The Niners value versatility in their offensive linemen, so someone like Will Putnam could be interesting, as he can play any of the three interior positions and could be a suitable backup or spot starter.

Putnam is a seasoned veteran entering his fifth year as a starter for Clemson. He is best suited as a center in the NFL but has two years of starting experience as a guard.

Pick No. 172: Trey Zuhn III, offensive tackle, Texas A&M

The 49ers could use a second tackle on the roster as they lack depth at that position. Trey Zuhn III is a big blocker at 6’10” and 300 pounds, but his play is a bit inconsistent.

However, he still has room to develop and has already shown some professional potential with the Aggies if he can just refine his technique.

Pick No. 205: Karene Reid, linebacker, Utah

The Niners are pretty well-stocked at linebacker, but could opt for a little more depth. Karene Reid is a little below average at 6’0″ and 220 pounds, but below-average linebackers have never been a problem for San Francisco.

Reid had 67 tackles, one interception and four passes defensed for Utah in 2023, and showed his potential as a pass rusher with five sacks in 2022.

Pick No. 223: Nay’Quan Wright, running back, South Florida

The 49ers have three picks in the seventh round and you can be pretty sure that one of them will be used on a running back.

Nay’Quan Wright is a variety running back at 5’9″ and 195 lbs. Playing for South Florida in 2023, he averaged 4.4 yards per carry for 797 yards and eight touchdowns.

Pick No. 245: Namdi Obiazor, Security, TCU

The 49ers are pretty well positioned at safety, but could add a fourth safety to the roster for 2025 and beyond.

Namdi Obiazor is a sturdy run defender who also recorded four sacks in 2023, so he could be an interesting candidate.

Pick No. 247: Dacari Collins, WR, NC State

A wide receiver on the go, you can never have enough of those, right? Dacari Collins failed to make an impact at Clemson, which led to his transfer to North Carolina State in late 2022.

However, Collins has decent size at 6’4″ and 215 pounds, so maybe the Niners can bring out his talent.
