Scott Pilgrim producer launches new comic company

Producer Eric Gitter has spent many years bringing comics and graphic novels to the screen and has worked on films such as Extraction, Atomic Blonde And Scott Pilgrim vs. World. Now he’s diving even deeper into the genre as co-founder of a new comic and graphic novel publishing company, teaming up with several veterans of independent publishing houses.

Joining Gitter on the new project are former Boom! Studios head Filip Sablik as publisher, former IDW head Jamie S. Rich as editor-in-chief, and comic book writer Jeremy Haun as creative director.

The as-yet-unnamed company will forego superheroes and instead focus on horror, science fiction, crime and fantasy. The company has not announced its funding or unveiled a program, but hopes to sign authors by the end of the year or early next year, with the goal of starting to publish books sometime in 2025.

Due to Gitter’s experience in Hollywood, the company will have an eye on film adaptations. Gitter previously headed the film division of Oni Press and was a producer of film adaptations such as Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Chris Hemsworth extraction Action films, the latter based on the works of the publisher Danger Graphic Novel. Gitter has been running his own production company for the past few years and the business will be integrated into the new company.
