The trailer for “The Room Next Door” shows Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton in Pedro Almodóvar’s latest film

For film lovers, it’s a heavenly trio: the extraordinary Spanish author and director Pedro Almodóvar and Oscar winners Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton have teamed up for the author’s first English-language feature film. The room next door. Sony Pictures Classics has released a first preview of Almodóvar’s latest film ahead of its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 2.

The room next door revolves around former close friends and colleagues Martha (Swinton) and Ingrid (Moore), who met at a young age at the same magazine. Their careers diverged: Ingrid became an autofiction writer and Martha a war reporter – it would be hard to find two more different forms of writing – whose lives intersect once again.

This is the first film for Almodóvar since 2021 Parallel mothers, which also had its world premiere in Venice and won Penelope Cruz the Volip Cup for Best Actress. Almodóvar once again works with phenomenal actors such as Moore and Swinton and a supporting cast that includes John Turturo, Alessandro Nivola, Melina Matthews and Juan Diego Botto.

The room next door is scheduled to be released on December 20th. Check out the teaser below.
