  • “Bitcoin is an art form” and AI stands for “extraterrestrial intelligence”
  • Harari’s previous criticism of Bitcoin

Renowned Israeli historian, philosopher and author of several bestsellers (e.g. “Sapience”) Yuval Noah Harari has expressed his views on artificial intelligence as well as Bitcoin and other financial instruments. He highly appreciated BTC and compared it to art. This happened after he took a swipe at Bitcoin a few months ago.

The famous intellectual also made an astonishing AI prediction and proposed his own interpretation of this famous acronym.

“Bitcoin is an art form” and AI stands for “extraterrestrial intelligence”

Yuval Noah Harari has published part of a recent interview in which he talks about the rapid development of artificial intelligence, Bitcoin and financial instruments. In particular, the scientist spoke about creativity and believes that AI could become a turning point in this area and revolutionize the financial sector.

Harari explained that the abbreviation AI should not be deciphered as “artificial intelligence” but as “extraterrestrial intelligence”. He said that there is nothing artificial about AI. Its new forms develop on their own. The philosopher is certain that AI can produce a different kind of creativity and “that is precisely why it will bring about truly groundbreaking changes in so many areas.”

Harari believes this is even true in the field of finance. The philosopher considers financial instruments to be “a kind of art form.” Here he named financial instruments such as bonds, currencies and Bitcoin, and explained that the people who came up with the ideas to create them had shown extraordinary creativity. “It’s a kind of art. Very creative. Very imaginative,” he said. Therefore, Harari expects that in the future, artificial intelligence will “give rise to new kinds of financial instruments that no human would ever dare to create.”

Harari’s previous criticism of Bitcoin

In May of this year, Yuval Noah Harari was somewhat critical of Bitcoin, despite his aforementioned comparison of BTC to art. Harari said that Bitcoin is unfortunately a “currency of distrust” because its power and user support is based on distrust of human institutions, i.e. banks.

The intellectual pointed out that this was a “worrying development” because money was invented with the aim of creating trust between strangers.

“I understand the reasons for this mistrust, but it is a worrying development,” Harari stressed.
