John Gotti III ready for rematch against Floyd Mayweather

John Gotti III ready for rematch against Floyd Mayweather

There is a pretty tight boxing schedule planned for the coming weekend, so the exhibition rematch between Floyd Mayweather and John Gotti III will be the biggest fight or event on Saturday night.

The rematch will take place in Mexico and will be broadcast live on DAZN – a first for Mayweather. And as fans who saw the first fight between “Money” and the grandson of notorious mafia boss John Gotti know, all hell broke loose at the end of the fight.

Gotti III was disqualified and after his disqualification he hit Mayweather, causing both teams to storm into the ring and a mass brawl that lasted for some time. Gotti III vowed revenge at the time and now gets a second chance against the 47-year-old Mayweather. And Gotti III is really promising a great fight ahead of Saturday’s fight.

“This fight can determine the course of my future in boxing,” Gotti III told DAZN. “He’s going to be confronted with bad intentions. After everything that happened last time, we’ll see who backs down first. This is going to be one hell of a fight. It’s going to be a very interesting night. Don’t let Floyd fool you, he’s serious about this, he’s coming to fight. I’m one of only two other fighters who have a rematch against Floyd. He’s one of the greatest fighters to ever lace up boxing gloves. To be in the ring with someone of this caliber, the challenge excites me. I’ve seen his best, he hasn’t seen mine.”

Mayweather has only rematched two of his previous opponents, Jose Luis Castillo and Marcos Maidana, but as for Gotti III having “seen Mayweather’s best days,” well, Mayweather’s best days were a few years ago. Floyd is about 50 percent capable in the exhibition fights he competes in, no more, no less. But Gotti III has a great chance to at least make Mayweather look bad, make him take some punches.

But how many fans will buy into the hype, or have bought into the hype, surrounding this fight? At a whopping $50 PPV (£20 in the UK), some fans will probably forego it. There is a decent supporting programme with red-hot Mayweather protégé Curmel Moton in action, but Mayweather is the star of the show. But what kind of show will it be on Saturday?
