DecorSlat ceiling pays homage to Indigenous heritage at Flinders University’s new vertical campus

Architectus designed a vertical campus for Walker Corporation and Flinders University in the Festival One Tower in Adelaide’s Riverbank district to give the university a new identity.

Dubbed ‘The Tower’ and spanning eight floors, the campus is a centre for learning, collaboration and innovation that prioritises flexibility and connectivity, offering a range of learning and teaching spaces, student study areas, a library, staff workspaces and outdoor terraces.

DecorSlat Create System

Festival One Tower is a cultural gathering place for Kaurna people due to its historic climbing tree. Architectus incorporated the natural environment and climbing tree into the design, using timber forms and materials throughout the space.

A notable feature is the DecorSlat Create system installed in the ceiling, which adds warmth to the space. The wooden slats also pay homage to the history and indigenous heritage of the region.

DecorSlat Create System

DecorSlat Create has a seamless design feature that makes the ceiling appear expansive and continuous. This illusion opens up the interiors and makes the rooms feel spacious.

The vertical campus creates a conducive environment for academic activities and celebrates the local culture and environment.

Decor Systems is once again proud to have been selected as a supplier.
