Lester Bounty Obituary Obituary Charlie Bounty

Lester “Charlie” Bounty, 62, passed away on August 6. A celebration of his life will be held this Saturday, August 24.

Born on January 5, 1962 in Stamford and raised in Darien, Charlie was the son of the late Reginald and Madeline (Rembish) Bounty, brother of Elizabeth Bounty and Katherine (Daniel) Gouin, uncle of Tucker (Michaella) and Kelly Gouin, honorary uncle of Kevin Pierre-Louis, and partner of Debbie Rogers Truesdale.

Charlie first met his beautiful Debbie in high school and it was destined that they would meet again later in life. Together, Charlie and Deb loved seafood, oysters, travel, and the beach, and they enthusiastically followed and supported local musicians in southeastern Massachusetts.

Charlie began singing song lyrics he made up every morning, only to start Deb’s day with a hearty laugh and a smile that lasted until their next phone call. She brought him tremendous joy, love and happiness. They loved each other exponentially! It’s hard to measure how much she will miss him.

Charlie was known for his athletic prowess on the fields at Darien High School, Rutgers University, and the University of Rhode Island. While his athletic accomplishments were remarkable, he was most successful in the genuine and lasting friendships he made through them.

Friendship was Charlie’s greatest gift. He had a huge circle of friends and had been in touch with many of them since elementary school. If you were to list the names of Charlie’s closest friends, the list would be endless, but he wanted all of his friends to know that each and every one of them was important to him.

Charlie was genuinely interested in the life of each friend and celebrated each one’s successes. He was the first to cheer a friend’s victory and to offer comfort and advice in times of grief. He was loyal, compassionate and had such a joy for life. He is the example of someone who lived each day to the fullest.

Liz, Kath, Dan, Tucker, Kelly, Kevin, Deb and many of their beloved friends will miss Charlie’s spontaneous text messages, his laughter, his endless questions, his falling asleep in the middle of a conversation and his many entertaining stories. But most of all they will miss his kindness, love, support and warm hugs.

A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Noroton Heights Fire Station, 209 Noroton Ave. Appropriate attire for the tailgate party is requested.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Stamford PAL or Noroton Heights Fire Department.
