Every week we discover some really cool and custom putters on the putting green and in the bags of tour players. This week there are also some really interesting and beautiful putters to test. Let’s take a look at some of the outstanding models we found.

Tyler Duncan: Scotty Cameron Phantom T-11.5

The Phantom 11 is a pretty wild putter by Scotty’s standards, with a multi-material design that increases the MOI for more forgiveness. Duncan’s T-11.5 takes the standard model and moves the shaft to the center of the putter head. We don’t mean a center-shafted version, but the shaft is also centered, behind the face. We don’t have any official details on this T-11.5, but it looks like this configuration should result in a putter with the face pointing toward the hole or target, similar to a LAB putter.

Zac Blair: Scotty Cameron 009.M Cameron & Co. “Longneck”

Blair may own the largest Scotty collection on tour! It seems like every week he tries something new and absolutely awesome. I’ve seen many 009.M putters over the years, but never one with a long plumber’s neck. This 009 is a masterpiece that uses additional CNC machine work to reduce the amount of hand polishing needed to finish the putter. The long or high neck of the putter is typically used to reduce toe overhang and make the face of the putter more balanced. The face features a very shallow milling while the sole features a tour truck, “Tour Only,” diamonds, and the rare Circle L stamp. The Circle L was made for Scotty’s close friends who had lost matches or games, and was meant to poke a little fun at their misfortune.

Paul Barjon: PXG prototype

There are many putters that are so widely used and popular that other manufacturers adopt some of the design elements. The Spider is one of those putters and it looks like PXG made a prototype putter for Barjon that has some similar features. This prototype has a tapered mallet shape with two wings protruding on either side of the back. Two movable weights sit in each wing on the sole and the sole features a plate that is bolted into place at the corners. The top contains a single sightline and the face uses PXG’s advanced pyramid face structure.

Odyssey Ai-One Cruiser Broom #7

Lately, it seems that more and more long, balanced and alternative putters are popping up. The long or broomstick putter is making a comeback and quite a few players have followed Adam Scott and used this style. Odyssey has thrown its hat into the broomstick arena with a new Ai-One Cruiser model. The head shape is the very familiar #7 model, but the shaft goes to the center of the clubhead. An Ai-One face helps keep ball speed consistent on off-center hits and there are three white lines on top to frame the ball and align the putter.

TaylorMade Spider Tour S broomstick

Another option for the long putter is TaylorMade’s Spider Tour S Broomstick, which we’ve seen around the putting green. The head appears to be a bit larger than the standard Tour S, and that makes sense since the broom style putters require heads of around 400g or more. There’s a TPU Pure Roll insert installed in the face and the shaft has a more traditional double-bow design, but is much longer! There’s no True Path alignment on top, just an all-dark grey finish with a single sightline. There are two movable weights in the wings of the putter to adjust the specific weight a player may desire.
