If you need an excuse to order fries today, here it is: Happy National Potato Day!
A recent poll asked how Americans prefer to eat their potatoes… and yes, French fries received the most votes.
We like to eat them as French fries, mashed potatoes, baked potatoes and rösti.
Tater Tots and potato salad share fifth place. But the popularity of potato salad is declining. Only 25% of Generation Z members have chosen to 60% the baby boomers.
Here are some more French fry statistics for National Potato Day…
1. 29% of us order fast food fries weekly and 62% say at least once a month. Only 16% say they rarely or never eat them..
2. McDonald’s With 46% of the vote, fries are still our favorite. Wendy’s is in second place with 16%, then Chick-fil-A And Burger King at 13%.
3. Our favorite French fries cuts are, in order: Regular fries, Curly fries, Thick cut fries, Waffle fries, and Crinkle cut fries are in fifth place.
4. Ketchup remains the most popular dipping sauce. Participants were allowed to choose several: 74% said they use ketchup, ranch sauce follows with 29%, cheese sauce with 26%, barbecue sauce with 21% and mayonnaise with 18%..
