Matthew Perry’s grieving fans pay tribute to him on his 55th birthday: “You didn’t deserve this”

On his 55th birthday, fans mourn Matthew Perry.

The actor, who played the cheeky Chandler Bing in the series “Friends,” died in October from a fatal overdose of ketamine.

Police investigations followed, which led to the arrest of five people last week.

Among them were the actor’s personal assistant and two doctors – they were said to have been part of a “large-scale underground criminal network” that supplied the sitcom star with drugs.

So viewers probably had the actor in mind when his birthday came around on Monday, as did the official Friends Instagram account, which decided to post a post in his memory.

“On this day we remember the light that was Matthew Perry,” the account operators wrote, sharing an old photo of the deceased.

This was followed by a series of emotional comments, some of which referred to recent headlines surrounding the arrest of his alleged supporters.

“Thank you for giving us Chandler Bing and Matthew Perry,” wrote one distraught fan. “Always in my heart and happy birthday.”

“Today would have been Matthew Perry’s 55th birthday,” added another, then added a celebratory hashtag. “RIPMatthewPerry.”

Most mentioned his iconic character, known for his sarcasm and witty jokes.

Others remembered the show and the impact it had on them. One wrote: “I’ve been rewatching ‘Friends’ at least twice every year since 2020.”

“Now I’m back to season 3,” they added. “I love you, Matt.”

“Our dearest Chan Chan Man,” another recalled fondly.

“Could we miss him any more??” said someone else.

Most mentioned his iconic character, known for his sarcasm and well-timed jokes, delivered over the course of 10 successful seasons alongside his costars David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow.

Within three hours of publication, the memorial page received more than 600,000 likes and countless responses.

One declared: “Everything that happens in the news about him should not be the way we remember (Perry).”

“We should remember how he made millions of us laugh every time we heard a sarcastic comment from Chandler Bing.”

The news is still fresh in many minds, as the suspects were only arrested last Thursday.

The arrests were made by federal officials. In a subsequent press conference, US Attorney Martin Estrada explained how authorities had uncovered a “broad-based underground criminal network responsible for distributing large quantities of ketamine to Perry and others.”

An accompanying indictment alleges that the defendants earned tens of thousands of dollars by selling the drug to the troubled star. In one case, Dr. Salvador Plasencia of Malibu Canyon Urgent Care, along with his colleague Mark Chavez, billed Perry $2,000 for a vial of ketamine that actually cost only $12.

Also arrested in connection with the case was Perry’s former assistant Kenneth Iwamasa, who admitted to administering the fatal dose of ketamine that killed the Friends actor.

Jasveen Sangha, 41, is better known as the “Ketamine Queen” of North Hollywood. Prosecutors say she was the linchpin of a “wide-ranging underground criminal network” that supplied the “Friends” star with the ketamine that killed him in October 2023.

Perry’s former assistant Kenneth Iwamasa was also handcuffed in connection with the case. He admitted to administering the lethal dose that killed the famous actor.

The alleged linchpin of the alleged underground organization that supplied the “Friends” star was 41-year-old Jasveen Sangha, who is also known in North Hollywood under the pseudonym “Ketamine Queen.”

Police said Sangha’s distribution of the substance led to his death on October 4, 2023, after which Perry was found unconscious in the hot tub of his LA home on October 28.

At the time of writing, the actor’s co-stars have yet to release their own tributes to their late friend.

However, Matt LeBlanc and Lisa Kudrow both expressed their heartfelt condolences on Instagram in the days following his death.

“Matthew, it is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye,” wrote LeBlanc, who played Joey on the long-running sitcom.

“The time we had together was honestly some of the best times of my life,” he continued.

“It was an honor to share the stage with you and to call you my friend.”

“I will always smile when I think of you and I will never forget you. Never.”

“Spread your wings and fly, brother, you are finally free. Love,” he concluded before telling a typical joke.

“And I guess you keep the $20 you owe me.”

Kudrow, meanwhile, told an interesting anecdote about Perry at an NBC party after the show first aired and also posted a photo from that time.

She wrote, “We shot the Friends Like Us pilot, got picked up right away, and went to the NBC Upfronts. Then… you suggested playing poker AND made it so much fun while we were initially bonding. Thank you for that.”

“Thank you for making me laugh so hard at something you said that my muscles hurt and tears streamed down my face EVERY DAY.”

“Thank you for your open heart in a six-way relationship that required compromise. And a lot of ‘talking’.”

“Thank you for the best 10 years a person can have,” one of Perry’s co-stars recently wrote

“Thank you for coming to work despite your illness and then behaving absolutely brilliantly,” she continued.

“Thank you for the best 10 years a person can have.”

If convicted on all counts, Sangha could face a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years in federal prison and a statutory maximum sentence of life in prison.

Plasencia could face up to ten years in federal prison for each ketamine-related charge and up to twenty years in federal prison for each falsification charge.

Iwamasa and alleged drug trafficker Eric Fleming face prison sentences of up to 15 and 25 years respectively in their federal cases.

Chavez was also charged under a plea agreement and will go on trial on August 30. At sentencing, he faces up to 10 years in a federal prison.
