The new Disney/Pixar film “Elio” has received new concept art and a new release date
Release date and concept art of “Elio”
Disney/Pixar’s Elio will be released in theaters on June 13, 2025. Zoe Saldana has joined the cast and will play Elio’s aunt. Yonas Kibreab plays Elio, along with America Ferrera as Elio’s mother Olga, Jameela Jamil as Ambassador Questa and Brad Garrett as Ambassador Grigon.
New concept drawings also show Elio in his science fiction world.
The film was originally scheduled to be released in 2024, but was delayed due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. The first teaser trailer and poster were released in 2023. “Coco” writer Adrian Molina was originally set to direct, but Domee Shi (“Bao,” director of “Turning Red”) and Madeline Sharafian have signed on to direct.
The original film introduces Elio, an outsider with a vivid imagination who is accidentally beamed into the Communverse, an interplanetary organization with representatives from galaxies far away. Mistakenly identified as Earth’s ambassador to the rest of the universe, Elio is completely unprepared for these pressures. He must form new bonds with eccentric alien life forms, survive a series of difficult trials, and somehow discover who he is really meant to be.
