Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko recently expressed her frustration over persistent rumours that seek to undermine her hard-earned achievements. In a video shared on Instagram, the Enugu-born actress addressed the latest gossip that Captain Matthew Ekeinde, the husband of fellow actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, bought her a car.
Destiny didn’t hold back and confidently declared, “As far as I know, 99.9% of what I have accomplished in my life is my own doing.” She couldn’t believe that some people were so bitter about her success.
She said: “On most of my birthdays, I like to buy a car because I like to change cars every year. Some bitter people … sat down and brought pictures of Omotola’s husband that I had taken with him over four years ago.”
Destiny clarified the situation, saying that the picture was taken when she met Captain Ekeinde on a flight where he was the pilot. Fans were taking pictures with her and out of respect for him as the husband of a senior colleague, she asked for a selfie. That was all as far as their interaction was concerned.
The actress stressed that she has never met Captain Ekeinde or his family since then. She urged those spreading the rumours to leave the Ekeinde family alone. I never met Omotola; I just watched her growing up.
