Bratwurst Festival art exhibition honors local talent

BUCYRUS – There were 77 entries for the annual Bratwurst Festival Art Show at City Hall, hosted by the Crawford County Art Center.

Local artists showcased their creativity using media such as sculpture, charcoal, painting, dried gourds, photography, crochet and more.

On Thursday and Friday, visitors were able to cast their vote for the People’s Choice Award after visiting the exhibition.

Crawford County Arts Council President Joe Graham, Crawford County Art Center Director Kaylee Powers, and local artist Dr. Glen McMurray served as judges for Best in Show and all age categories.

Mayor Bruce Truka and Bratwurst Festival Director Larry West also chose a favorite piece.

Award winners

Best of Show: Y by Steve Kelly.

Mayor’s Award: Destitute by Ty Coleman.

Directing Award: Y, by Steve Kelly.

Audience’s choice: Bor3d by Brandon Adler.

K-5, 1st place: Paper kite puppet by Aamya Younger.

K-5 Honorable Mention: 2 Head x 2, by Fynn Logan.

6-8 1st place: Kitsune by Kailey Shope.

6-8 Honorable Mention: Kinoko by Kailey Shope.

9-12 1st place: Totality, by C. Everett.

9-12 Honorable Mention: Bluebird by Miriam McLaughlin.

First place for adults: “Reach” by Ty Coleman.

Second place for adults: Bor3d by Brandon Adler.

Third place for adults: Armie by Suzanne Rothhaar.

Honorable Mention for Adults: Fulcrum by Kevin Tackett.

Community members expressed their great joy at having the opportunity to see the works of local artists.
