☀️Big “Alien” keeps box office revival going

Good evening! This is Sean McNulty (Connect with me on LinkedIn here if you like), and here are the Hollywood + Media News to know on SUNDAY, August 18, 2024.

I have excellent news for all the journalists who not only want to work in a dying industry, but also want to smell like it!

It seems HEARSTs esquire enters the perfume businesswith a new line of colognes with flavors like “Editor in Chief” and “New Journalist,” which probably smells like a mix of ramen noodles and the envelope glue from student loan “overdue” notices.

But you know, I love to really put in the effort – so good luck esquire! Especially with a “new journalist salary-friendly” 120 dollars per bottle, I am convinced that it will be a real game changer for HEARST Corporation.

Let me know if you would like to collaborate with us. Richard and I on a variety of the type “Beleaguered Columnist”.

The visitors of the Bruno Mars concert finally came inalthough the show started almost 2 hours late on Friday evening. Fortunately Lady Gaga could stay up late to come out for a song.

Well, it turns out my break point of $42 million this weekend was pretty spot on, but yes, the bulls win again overall here with Alien: Romulus.

And lo and behold… 2024 box office results are now looking better than they were at the start of the summer compared to 2023, and even after some momentum at the halfway point (details below).

As DISNEY is also proving this summer, it is amazing what a summer film program can achieve (a program that was, of course, created several years ago).

Here’s how the American public voted with their money this weekend, including a strong showing in the specialty area and a surprise showing from, er, Coralline. 🤔
