Erling Haaland made Marc Cucurella regret singing about him as Manchester City faced Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Following Spain’s success at the 2024 European Championship, in which Cucurella played a key role, the left-back was seen chanting during the parade: “Haaland, you better shake because Cucurella is coming.”
However, it was Cucurella who was left shaking as Haaland scored his first goal of the season in the 18th minute by shaking off the left-back.
Gary Neville praised Haaland for his goal. Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville said: “You wonder if he touched the ball too many times but it’s his power and strength that allows him to hold off Cucurella and shoot the ball past Sanchez… He’s a beast.”
Cucurella faced some criticism early in his tenure at Chelsea following his move from Brighton in 2022.
